Professor Kim Kierans is the Director of the School of Journalism at the University
of King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

She teaches broadcast writing and reporting, research methods and documentary. Her
research areas include community newspapers and media concentration. She is adjunct
faculty at the Konrad Adenauer Asian Centre for Journalism at Ateneo de Manila University
in the Philippines and trains broadcast journalists overseas.

Ms. Kierans is also a freelance columnist, writer and documentary maker with CBC
Radio and the Halifax Sunday Herald. She sits on the Halifax Board of LOVE, Leave
Out Violence.

She spent 22 years working in news and current affairs for the Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation in the Maritimes.

|
She holds a BA (Hons) in Classics from King's/Dalhousie and a MA in Atlantic
Canada Studies from Saint Mary's University.
